Trail Talk: Heybrook Lookout

IMG_3864.JPG

Heybrook Lookout is beautiful! Right off of US-2 in Index, WA it’s surrounded by trees and mountains. It’s where I take everyone that’s new to hiking.

The trail is about 4 miles round trip which is a nice distance for those who are new to the trails. It’s a pretty constant climb, but it’s doable.

When you reach the lookout, you have one last climb... up, up, up the stairs to a cozy little shelter! On a clear day, Bridal Veil Falls can be seen to the west. In the Summer, there are blue and gray jays everywhere- a great bonus for animal lovers!!! And in the Fall, you can bask in the beautiful colors as you gaze out over the trees.

BONUS: Like to eat after a tough hike? Bring a lunch and munch at the top or hike down, jump in your car, continue to Eagle Falls, and eat by the waterfall!
